Update - 10/30/11

Great job at the Remenyik Open for the Men's & Women's Saber:

Men's Saber:

16. Tony Jochaniewicz

23. Chris Plaza

Both lost tight bouts to advance. Chris missed his attack and lost to a counter at 14-14 in the Round of 32 after easily advancing. Tony won a tight bout in the 32 to advance and then in the 16, he made a dramatic comeback only to fall short, 11-15 against the 8th seed, Adam Rains.

Women's Saber:

13. Theresa Stoodley

Theresa had a rough start to her day, and never really found her groove. She was 3-2 in the pools and lost in the round of 16 to the eventual winner, Chloe Grainger of Northwestern.

Great job everyone, especially considering the state of saber competition in IL, currently, and the depth of the fields at the Remenyik Open.

In addition, a few of our beginners purchased electric equipment courtesy of Absolute Fencing Gear at the competition getting them ready for practice and youth tournaments coming up in November and December.

Practice Schedule:

There will be Monday & Thursday practices as normal. Yes, there will be practice on Halloween, for those of you who have finished trick-or-treating already.

Saturday's practice is currently up in the air, as Clint will be unable to attend. We'll update you on the practice status mid-week.
